"My oldest son has taken a liking to a cup of Chamomile before bedtime to help him sleep. I've never tried the Egyptian variety before so this will be a treat."

Chamomile grows throughout Europe, Eastern Asia, North Africa, and North and South America. The daisy-like Chamomile flower grows wild across four continents. The finest Chamomile is cultivated in Egypt.
Essential oils in the flowers produce a soothing pleasant aroma and a fruity character. In some parts of Europe, particularly southern France, chamomile plants have been strewn on floors or pathways to give the area a good scent. Chamomile can be made into a pleasant aromatic tea which is slightly bitter but with a fruity flavor.
Chamomile is known for its soothing effects; sometimes it's called "bedtime tea".
The first reference to Chamomile in literature appeared in the children's tale, Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter. After a stressful day escaping the farmer, Peter's mother soothed him with a damp cloth soaked in Chamomile tea.
If you have a rough day, perhaps being chased by farmers, try Peter's remedy and settle down with a hot cup of Chamomile. Chamomile is a true herbal infusion made from the Chamomile plant alone with no added tea leaves or other ingredients. It's flowery flavor is naturally caffeine free.
