Origin of the Clementine Oranges:
Clementine oranges are believed to have been developed by an Algerian priest named Pierre Clement in 1902.
Clement apparently discovered the small hybrid citrus growing in the courtyard of his orphanage near Oran in what was then French Algeria.
He noted how deliciously sweet they were, began propagating them and soon they had spread throughout North Africa.

Cozy Christmastime Loose Leaf Tea is a unique blend of sweet clementines and cloves with premium black loose leaf tea. This pair of clementine and clove flavors owes its existence to the former French Empire that stretched from North Africa to the Far East.
Clementines, (Latin: citrus reticulata) are a variety of mandarin orange. The exterior is a deep orange color with a smooth, glossy appearance. Clementines separate easily into seven to fourteen juicy segments. They are very easy to peel, like a tangerine, but are almost always seedless. Clementines are, thus, also known as seedless tangerines. They are typically juicy and sweet, with less acid than oranges.
Cloves on the other hand, (Latin: Syzygium aromaticum), originated in Indonesia, but were named after the French. This aromatic spice are actually dried flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae. The flower buds are a pale color at first and gradually become green, finally they turn to a bright red when they are ready for harvesting. Cloves are native to Indonesia and used as a spice in cuisines all over the world. The word clove stems from the word clous, which in the French language means “nail”, an item the spice closely resembles. Cloves have a very unique, slightly nutty, musky flavor.
Cozy Christmastime is made with luxury black tea, natural dried orange, whole cloves, cinnamon and natural flavors.
